Okay, let me explain the table below. The A's beside the names of the Chocobos refer to the class that the chocobo must be in when you mate it with a chocobo to recieve the desired colour. The Chocobos start in C class and you must race them Gold Saucer to raise there class. To get them fast enough to face in the A and B
classes you must feed them Greens while at the farm. You can buy the best greens from the Chocobo Sage hidden in the Northern Contenant (just fly around in the High Wind and you will see his lone house in the mountains. I would advise feeding about 40 to 50 of these greens to your Chocobo before you race it or you will get smoked in the higher classes.

The Nuts refered to are not for sale anywhere in the game. They both must be stolen from monsters in the game. The Carob nut is the easiest to get. At the South West tip of the Northern Contenant is a grass patch and a bunch of little islands not connected to the main contenant. In this small patch of grass in a dark area (think it is supposted to be long grass). If you walk around there you will fight a red lizard like monster with quite a few hitpoints. If you steal from this creature you will recieve the Carob nut (you might as well do this a few times seeing as you need more than one). The Zeo nut is a tad harder to get. Go to the little skinny island in the north east of the map. In the middle of this island is a forest. Walk around here and you will fight a bunch of goblins (you can learn "goblin punch" (Enemy Skill) from them). It is from them that you steal the nut. Unfortunetly they are a lot quicker than the lizard thing and are really hard to steal from. You can either keep trying until you get one or if you get fed up like I did you can just keep killing them and eventually they will give you one after a battle. I am not really sure what way is faster you can decide.
Remember, Breeding a Chocobo is all trial and error. There is no way you are going to get the chocobo you want on your first try. Therefore save before you go into the farm and try to mate. If you don't get the colour or sex desired (remember you need opposite sex to mate, vital when it comes to mating the black and gold) reset the game and try again.
